Tonya Kim
An innocent girl who accompanies Kuhn as his field photographer, is the object of Finch's unquenchable desire.
Though Tonya's role is minor, her presence is important to showcase the depth of other characters. As the best friend of Kuhn's daughter (Sara), she represents a facet of his guilt on a variety of levels. The fact that an invitation is offered to Tonya, and not Sara, is a perpetual reminder of Kuhn's misguided priorities. Moreover, her death is an excruciating blow as Kuhn feels responsible for ensuring her safety in his care.
Tonya also sparks the beginning of Finch’s downfall. Because she does not die by his hand, he is overrun with feelings of frustration and failure. These faults knock the invincible monster from his pedestal, forcing him to take unnecessary risks later which lead to his capture.
